Piping Codes
Piping Codes (EN13480 or ASME B31.3) Training Course
The EN13480 and ASME B31.3 design codes are frequently used for piping system design. Often the rules are applied using automated pipe flexibility software packages such as CAESAR II and the engineer can lose the overview of the calculation being performed. Our courses aim to explain the fundamental equations and principles in these design rules. For example: How is the allowable design stress calculated? Why should certain load cases be analysed? What inter-stiffener distance is required to prevent collapse under vacuum? How many cycles are permitted before fatigue failure? The training course will either cover the rules of EN13480 or ASME B31.3, however a brief overview of the similarities and difference will be provided. This training is given by one of the experienced consulting engineers from DRG who constantly work on piping and pressure vessel problems. As well as explaining the rules and how to apply them, the trainer will also challenge the participants on why a rule is formulated in a particular way.
