Piping Vibrations

Piping Vibrations Training Course

The Piping vibration course teaches a fundamental but general understanding of the mechanics involved in piping vibrations. What can cause piping vibrations, how to analyze vibrations, what mitigations are possible? Those are questions participants will be able to answer after taking this course. The course aims to provide the participant a toolbox to understand and assess piping vibrations. The participant will be able to quickly assess whether a piping vibration might be an issue for the integrity of the system and can plan more detailed analysis / plan of action based on this assessment. Participant will be able to determine on their own, what the best approach is to assess and mitigate the piping vibration. Whether this is more detailed analysis, in-field mitigations, or a measurement campaign. The course starts with an overview of important concepts such as potential sources of vibrations and existing rules of thumb for assessment. The course will cover some mathematical and computational concepts in order to provide the participant with the necessary insight when modelling vibrations and understanding of how vibrations can be caused. As vibrations are always caused by an some excitation source and not by the piping itself, a solid understanding of the interaction between the excitation source(s) and piping is provided. The last part of the course will cover vibration measurement and the relation of vibration measurements to theory. All content will be illustrated by means of a mixture of simple academic exercises and real life industrial problems. The course will be taught by an experienced engineer from DRG. The engineer is involved in piping vibration analysis on daily project work.
